As someone else pointed out over the weekend, what makes anti-abortion people so special?

My taxes go to bailing out Wall Street, paying for the War on Drugs, Tasers for cops, wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, and Secret Service security for former president George Bush, among other things.

So if you don't like abortion, call your congressmen and see if you can get them to write a federal law to ban it. Good luck with that.

Well, Pelosi let the Stupak amendment get to the floor, it passed, and the progressives showed about as much fortitude as Tom Tancredo when it came time to decide whether to block a bad bill.

Inconceivable maybe, but none of the constituent parts are all that surprising - Pelosi is not a competent parliamentarian, many Democrats from sourthern, catholic or working class districts are happy to grandstand against abortion, and the progressives actually have about as much fortitude as Tom Tancredo, but less leverage.

So the Democrats are now sponsoring a massive rollback of abortion rights. I wonder how that fits into Obama's 11 dimensional chess game?
